"LA MAISON BLANCHE" - DINAN, BRITTANY (FRANCE)

In the heart of medieval Dinan, there is somewhere really special . . .
This stylish and truly lovely apartment is on two floors, the ground and first floor, in an old merchant's house. The entrance is from a sloping cobbled pedestrian street, famous around the world for its medieval houses, with reserved parking up a few steps directly opposite.

| | The house is full of period detail, with high ceilings allowing a sense of space and light. The apartment has original French windows in each room and a period fireplace in the sitting room, which is still usable. On arrival in winter, a basket of logs is provided. It is centrally heated. Thick stone walls keep the apartment cool in summer and it has its own little private courtyard surrounded by high walls. This is a sun-trap in the afternoon and perfect for taking meals in the open air at any time of day. |
The fully fitted and equipped spacious kitchen (which leads directly onto the courtyard through French windows) is next to a dining area for up to six people.
| | This leads into the airy sitting room where there is comfortable seating by the fireplace. Here there is a television with British digital channels, and a DVD and video player. There is a separate CD and radio player. An open spiral staircase climbs from the ground to the first floor. As an alternative, there is the option to use the entrance hall stairs. |
The spacious and well appointed master bedroom captures the full morning sun and is furnished in the French style. It has a delightfully romantic four poster bed.
|

| | The single bedroom receives afternoon and evening sun and is charmingly furnished with French verve. It overlooks a peaceful lawn. The bathroom has the usual modern conveniences, including a long bath with shower over and a separate toilet. There is a washer-drier for laundry. |
"La Maison Blanche" is within medieval Dinan itself and is convenient for restaurants, bakeries, shops, markets and the many historical attractions the town has to offer, all on foot. Just down the hill is the historic river port which offers more restaurants, boat trips and glorious riverside walks.
Within a 20 mile drive the spectacular coast has wonderful walking and golden beaches. The countryside nearby offers golf and horse riding, with lakes and chateaux to visit.
